It is unclear when the grocery Foxtrot, the Chicago-based upscale convenience store chain, faces bankruptcy, or an issue with its merger with Dom’s Kitchen and Market, announced November of 2023. Foxtrot faced significant opposition from Andersonville's small business community as it aims to establish a presence in the neighborhood. Local businesses, concerned about the potential harm to the area's vibrant shops, have fiercely pushed back against Foxtrot's plans to open in the former Reza's restaurant space on 5259 N. Clark St.
Foxtrot and Dom’s closed Chicago stores the morning of April 23rd, 2024, five months after the two popular chains merged. The first brick-and-mortar Foxtrot store at 1019 W. Lake St in Fulton Market sent home its employees and locked its doors all before 10 a.m. There is a note that says “We are closed effectively imemdiately. It’s been a pleasure serving our community. please keep our staff in your thoughts. - Evandy & Team”, according to a photo taken by Jack Grieves.
Meanwhile, the popular Dom’s at 1233 N. Wells St. in Old Town is shutting down permanently on April 23rd at 12pm. There is a note at the Wells St location that states “Hey neighbors, Dom's is saying goodbye and we're shutting our stores and app down. Thanks for eating and enjoying with us”, according to a photo taken by Jack Grieves.
