BATSU! is a type of Japanese comedy, put on by a group of people who participate in contests and challenges. If they lose, they have hilarious consequences. BATSU! Live is one of the best Japanese Comedy Show events in Chicago. It is located in a private space above the Kamehachi restaurant in the Old Town neighborhood in Chicago. Kamehachi is a sushi restaurant, loved by its locals in Old Town. The Old Town area, situated between Gold Coast and Lincoln Park, is a vibrant and fun neighborhood. It is well known for its comedy clubs and theaters, so BATSU! is perfectly located if you’re checking out the best comedy shows in Chicago. BATSU! is located on Wells St. right near all the best bars and restaurants in Old Town. With a BATSU! show, you can experience a great performance, fresh sushi, and pretty cocktails. This live improv comedy experience will have you laughing nonstop while you can actually engage and be apart of the show (if you wish).

During the first 30 minutes, a waiter will take your order for food and drinks. They have delicious sushi, small plates, appetizers, and a full service bar! The waiters will be checking on you throughout the show in case you want to order more. The ambiance is really neat. It’s an intimate space, no more than 16 tables, give or take. There are pink, red, and blue lights, Japanese decor, staff in costumes, and props. You will feel like you’re in Japan by attending BATSU! It’s the perfect event for a large group, date night, special occasion, or just to have a night of fun before going out on Wells St.

The team members are all quick-witted, creative, and most importantly, hilarious. They do multiple improv skits, dances, play charades, rap battles, and even get shot with a paintball gun by a dominatrix if they lose! If you’re lucky, you will be picked to come on the stage and participate in the fun and games, which may include drinking sake or eating sushi off of a hairy belly. Need we say more? Tickets start at $35 for the 2-hour show! VIP tickets will cost you $65 each. If you get VIP tickets, you get a really cool headband and preferred seating. Also, the ninja will come to your table and refill your shot glasses with sake throughout the show!
