West Loop is one of the most modern neighborhoods in Chicago. Just west of Chicago’s Loop neighborhood, West Loop is known for its restaurant row of fine dining on Randolph. In addition to the best dining Chicago has to offer, you’ll see new skyscrapers, classy bars, and upscale shops in this neighborhood.

Location: West Loop is situated just west of the downtown Loop of Chicago. Just cross one of the many bridges situated above interstate 90 and you’ll be right there. This makes for an easy walking commute, as well as a driving commute to the suburbs due to being close to the highways.

History: The West Loop in the 1860s was well known for having some of the most astonishing homes. That shortly changed when most of the homes were demolished to make room for warehouses and manufacturers. The West Loop, part of the Near West Side, became one of the most densely populated communities of Chicago with the nearby medical district and elevated railroads. The West Loop included a master plan by architect Daniel Burnham. The final phase of this plan was known as West Gate is a small area part of the West Loop connecting the neighborhood to The Loop. It’s known as “the gateway from the west to the loop”. It’s situated around the highways and train tracks.

Nightlife: West Loop is considered one of the most classy places for nightlife. With sophisticated rooftop bars, many of which are newly-built hotel bars, this neighborhood is full of upscale places to eat and drink that cater to both locals and visitors. Restaurants: If you’re a foodie, West Loop might just be the perfect Chicago neighborhood for you. Restaurant Row is an area in West Loop consisting of some of the best restaurants located in Chicago. Located on Randolph Street, the row of restaurants is where thousands gather each night for fine dining, including multiple Michelin star restaurants.

Fitness: One of the well-known gyms in West Loop is West Loop Athletic Club, part of the local chain known as Chicago Athletic Club. If you want something intriguing, try Row House, a unique spot that offers rowing classes.
